Sad Passing

(1/1)

casper:

'It breaks my heart to have to tell you that our past Chairman of 30 years and dear friend Ernie Cromie BEM passed away peacefully this morning.
RIP Ernie, blue skies.

Ray Burrows MBE'

jasT1981:
That's sad to hear. I met Ernie a few times over the years. Always a nice guy.

R.I.P. :(

OldBanditDriver:
Very sorry to hear of Ernie’s passing.

I’d known Ernie for over 40 years; a kind and very knowledgeable gentleman whose passion for aviation history will be his legacy to us all.

It was a pleasure to have known you, Ernie. Thank you for your friendship, RIP.

Angry Turnip:
Very sad to hear about this. I was a member of the UAS for several years when they were based at Langford Lodge, and Ernie was always a real gentleman.
He certainly knew his stuff, and always gave 100% promoting aviation, and in particular the history of WWII aviation in Northern Ireland.

Sneaky_Nikon:
As others have said, a tremendous figure in the local aviation scene, literally for a s long as I can remember.  And a genuinely pleasant, witty bloke to boot.
