air ambulance thread??
« on: November 08, 2017, 07:41:04 PM »
I'm just thinking out loud guys tho what does everyone think about asking the site administrator nicely about adding a topic thread dedicated to air ambulance movements only seeing we now have an operational air ambulance instead of sticking it down as an over flight? ?

Is every AA movement being logged currently? How are they being recorded?

It`s difficult to gauge how much interest there would be in an Air Ambulance thread,I have seen some of the movements listed, but I doubt all have been.

That's where my question stems from. If there's interest, a thread can be set up. But, from my rough reckoning, I haven't seen as many movements on here as are being reported by the AA, so there's obviously stuff not getting posted.

I don't mind creating a separate section for AA movements. Maybe it'll give an idea of how much is being posted when we see it all posted in the same place. It can be removed if it's deemed there's insufficient posts for its own section.

13:31 just landed South Belfast. Don't have a clear view, but think it's the west link or very near to stockman lane

I've just joined the dots - that's obviously bringing in a casualty from the above at 1315

that will be the helipad at Musgrave Park Hospital, which continues to be the only option for delivering patients to a road ambulance and then to RVH as the Belfast Trust mismanagement have STILL not commissioned the helipad on the roof of the Trauma building several years after it opened!

This is why most serious casualties near Belfast continue to go by road, even if HEMS medics attend and they travel with patient, while pilot returns aircraft solo to rv with them later

That seems to almost defeat the purpose of having the helicopter,as far as involving the RVH,unless the patients are flown to Musgrave first and stabilized before going on elsewhere.

not quite AT, the helicopter brings the specialist doctor & paramedic team very quickly to scene, they stabilise patient at scene and then transport to most appropriate hospital by most timely means, sometimes by air to RVH via Musgrave helipad & road, sometimes direct to RVH by road, sometimes to other hospitals by air or road as determined by patient's condition.

The vast majority of the benefit is the 'at scene' bit which is what would otherwise happen in the Emergency Department but is now done so much earlier.
