Has anyone heard of any updates to the flight paths or timings as of yet for their hopeful visit this week?

I have changed the date in the header of this thread to the new date, just to avoid any possible confusion. AT

I have a feeling the hurricane won't be arriving for this visit. Everything seem to be just pointing at the spitfire. Probably don't want to risk it with there battle of Britain day at Duxford coming up.

I agree I'm afraid. Which kinda makes the photoshoot tomorrow evening a bit of a damp squib from my POV, especially as the weather looks set to be cruddy.
Still delighted they managed to get this together though.

I thought that too, but P3717 isn't on the flying list (yet) for the Battle of Britain airshow next weekend. P2902 & R4118 are the only ones on the schedule thus far outside of the BBMF Hurricane. Cracking line up though, I will be there for both days :)

I see there has been quite a few disgruntled viewers  of the flypast today. I was looking for it from the house over the city but didn't see it (I was able to see the spitfire last week from the same postion) and from the videos if saw he seems to have passed rather high. As usual it feels as if it's been a " just get it done" job for northern Ireland again. Its as if they don't want the hassle of displaying or transiting over here.

That`s very harsh and unfair..

Don`t forget these aircraft are 70 years old, they have to fly by VFR rules, and the weather was far from ideal today. The pilot has to go by what ATC tell him, and he has to consider what is safe.

It`s all very well for Facebook non-pilot experts to stand on the ground and criticize. There has been a great deal of time and effort put in to try and get this event together, sadly the weather
has not played ball, but that is outside everyone`s control.
A flypast is exactly that, a flypast, it`s not a 10 minute display, and as I already mentioned safety, especially in less than ideal weather conditions is the pilot`s first concern.

People may well have been disappointed by what they saw, but that does not mean it was a cop out. That`s what`s wrong with so much of Joe Public these days,

They don`t know, nor care how much work is involved in putting something like this together, and just jump straight onto social media to moan and complain.

It must be very disappointing for those involved to read what the moaners say on social media, Polish Wings over NI didn`t have to do this, and it did not cost those watching anything.

Personally I feel that all those involved in organising this tribute to the Polish RAF Squadrons should be applauded for their valiant and noble work.
Ok it did not pan out as an ideal situation, but they did their very best, and they should be thanked for remembering the brave Polish Airmen who served in WWII.

No don't get me wrong I understand there's a lot of behind the scenes work to get something like this put together and I understand that they are vintage aircraft require more work to get displays done. But with the cancellation of the hurricane at last minute etc it feels as if they had to just get the display done this time round.

I think the whole event might have been overly ambitious, which almost always leads to disappointment.  A lot of what was planned, and occurred was rather more symbolic than anything else and may not have been best shared with the public. Everything on the ground at Ards seemed to go swimmingly, bar the obvious absence of the Hurricane and if people had known nothing other than that... There would have been no complaints.  It also shows how much of a double edged sword social media can be.

I had a bad feeling when they said they'd send the Spitfire first - better to have one aircraft stuck in NI, than two, if they weather delayed the return.

I thought the arrival on Wednesday at Newtownards was a bit below par - at least one high-ish speed pass would have been nice - compared to how the BBMF Spitfire flew over Titanic on the previous Sunday - he definitely threw the plane around with some nice turns - ok, yes, it wasn't a display and the plane is 70 years old...

But yes, as someone said, it was overly ambitious and maybe for the VIPs here to enjoy on the ground?

As far as some of the comments on social media about the whole thing...but, like someone once said, opinions are like (*), everyone has one....
