Bombardier joint venture with Airbus for C-Series
« on: October 16, 2017, 11:41:43 PM »
Starting to be reported on a few sites. Airbus have purchased (or are close to) a 50.1% share in the C-Series. I wonder if this might drastically change things in regard to the C-Series tariffs? Talk is the US orders will be built in Airbus Alabama plant.

Edit: Now confirmed - http://www.airbus.com/newsroom/press-releases/en/2017/10/airbus-bombardier-cseries-agreement.html

Wow

Airbus take the majority stake in C-Series programme for no money and no debt.  This will be carved out proportionally from Bombardier's and Investment Québec's existing stakes, reducing them to 30.9% and 19% respectively ( currently 62% and 38% ).

Bombardier are on the peg for anything up to C$700 million in shortfall in the first three years.

Both Airbus and Bombardier have call and put rights regarding the latter's remaining stake.  If it all goes well then technically Airbus can buy-out Bombardier's interest, if not then the latter can force a sale to get out of it.

Airbus will enter into agreements regarding:
(i) sales and marketing support services for the C Series
(ii) management of procurement, which will include leading negotiations to improve CSALP level supplier agreements
(iii) customer support

Good news for the folk at Belfast and Mobile but not so sure about Mirabel.

I hope it's good news for Belfast...but Airbus already have a carbon wing facility just across the Irish Sea...

I suspect that it's good news in the short term at least, but longer term, this could go either way...you never know, maybe we could end up making wings for A320s!

So Airbus have got a superior aircraft to replace the unsuccessful A318  without having to spend billions on developing it.

Nice shot from Toulouse, C-Series looks quite 'grown-up' beside the 320 Neo

I feel for the photogapher having to get that exposure right with the low Autumn light from the side.  Might have helped to have the taller guys at the centre!

Erm,would you buy a used car from any of them? I thought not.
Well at least they didn`t go for the trusty Belfast Telegraph " up the nostrils " shot, but yet they managed to retain the sense of naff, with the thumbs up all round.  ;D

I noticed an article in the Belfast Telegraph today that Airbus is going to have them manufacture the nacelles for the Pratt & Whitney engines on the A320 NEO.
