Title: Where are you going in 2019
Post by: jasT1981 on January 06, 2019, 07:22:00 PM
Where is everyone heading in 2019 for their airshows. I already have booked

Duxford Air Festival (May) - Saturday and Sunday - Hotel's booked, flights booked but tickets not out yet
Newcastle in June
RIAT Saturday (Grandstand) Sunday (Pimms)
Portrush
Duxford Battle of Britain September show (not booked yet, but will in next couple of weeks)

As every year, after RIAT we said "that's the last RIAT for us".  And then panic-booked RIAT again...

So RIAT week sandwiched between the Loop.

Other than that, the big Duxford D-Day fly-out in early June has over 40 Dakotas booked so that might be worth a daytrip.

Will probably skip the local beach-shows again and do the wee fly-ins instead.

I'll be in Caen in June for the Daks amongst other things, nothing else planned yet.

Mach Loop is on my bucket list.

I've probably said before, but since I started going over to England for RIAT, Cosford etc, I don't get excited as much by Newcastle & Portrush. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy them greatly. But nothing a seaside show can do, can come close to the big shows.

RIAT Announced Spanish Harrier today :D

Up until today I was going to

Yeovilton & Flying Legends
Newcastle depending on lineup
Airwaves depending on lineup

Now I'm looking to add RIAT and Shuttleworth Evening airshow into that after the Spanish Harrier was confirmed for RIAT. This could be my only chance to see one display

I've just seen they have an F86 Sabre coming... where the heck did that come from? quite a coup.

That's last year's list. Site for this year not yet updated.
It cancelled last year to be replaced by the Swiss Avenger.

This year's announcements so far are
MIG 15, Saab J-29, Me 262, P-40, Spitfire, Yak3.
They've announced that there will be a few surprises announced soon  :o

Ahhh I see. the Saab J-29 is something I would love to see.

I want to (though probably can't)  head to Washington DC next year for Arsenal of Democracy. Close to 100 warbirds flying over DC which would be incredible.

Just because I'm going to be down the road at the time Armor Aero Passion in Morlaix, Brittany at the end of September.
Not a big show by any means, it's probably akin to the later Newtownards shows but just 'cause it's French it'll have a slightly different range of things than we get at home. Promising Rafale (which I'm hoping to see operational at Landivisiau that week also), Mirage 2k, Hawkeye and "a big surprise". Plus all the usual kites, RC stuff and 347 varieties of Robin that all French aeroclub shows attract.
