Dublin Airport - spotting in comfort
« on: January 24, 2018, 01:57:50 PM »

I know that there are no viewing opportunities from within Dublin Airport.

Should I get the bus to Dublin Airport are there any close hotels where one can get a good view of arriving/departing aircraft whilst being close to coffee, toilets and food?

Alternatively I understand that there are good views from the road around the Blue long term car park.  Can anyone get the but to/from this car park or are the drivers fussy if you don't have a car in the car park?

Look at Google Maps. The Carlton Hotel is close to the approach, but I do not think it has a lounge with views in the right direction. It could provide you with refreshment & toilets. It is close to QuickPark. To avoid a long walk to the grass bank at the back of the layby on the Old Airport Road you should catch the green Quickpark Bus (every 5 mins) from the first lane in the bus station behind the short stay multi stay car park of Terminal 1, and get out in the car park at the first stop after the entry barriers. They never question why you are on the bus.
Then walk back onto the Swords Road and head back towards the airport. Turn left at the traffic lights onto the Old Airport Road, and the bank/layby is approx. 0.5km on the left. (There is no protection from the weather at this location).
