Yeah, bit of a weird one to be honest. I know a group where there yesterday too and that was 502 related but we were the only people there today. Not being able to take photographs was a big let down.

Will have to head up on Monday and get some then.

was any reason given for the "no photography" rule ? its not like Tiffies havnt been photographed by Joe Public in the minutest detail !! and I dont think .. its "Norn Iron" so we have to be sensitive.. works these days !

We had a brief before we went out on the pan and they said the no photography rule was because there was 'sensitive equipment' on the aircraft. How true that was I dont know but it was a bit daft.

When i was a Space Cadet was told that the cockpit configuration ( or some equipment therein ) of the Tornado F.3 was considered classified.  Perhaps something to do with the defensive aids.

I  assume this would carry-forward.  I don't think the cockpit photos that are released are of the current config.

But if no-one was actually in the cockpit it wouldn't be relevant...

We didn't go near the cockpit. Its was all very VERY regimented. I remember when the Harriers paid a visit a few years ago and the pilot let us actually get in the cockpit!

Nope, I didn't know about it either as you may have gathered from the Facebook post. I know 52POSTROC had mentioned a UAS visit in an earlier post but I initially thought he was mistaken since the society hadn't said anything about it.

Have to say I'm rather disappointed in how they've handled this event. I can understand if Aldergrove put a limit on numbers but the society could have still told us at least that way we had the option. When I asked on Facebook about it one of the members said this had been mentioned at the last 3 society meetings. If true then that was more than enough time to put it into the Airmail.

The AGM is next Wednesday night and while I was already planning to attend I think I'll ask about this.

In past experience, certain UAS activities are for the 'chosen few', and not the wider membership.

Exactly,UAS has always been like that,I was an active member for more than 10 years, and this sort of thing happened on a regular basis,it was one of the reasons I left.
As for the photo ban,it might seem odd and frustrating, but we have to respect what JHC tell us,they are only doing what they are told.

I've certainly got that impression over the years.

They were "passing FL150" on the radio when they passed here - not far from hospital. Still nice noise!
