Overflights 2015
« on: January 05, 2015, 07:36:59 PM »
Interesting  & unusual things that are flying over NI / Ireland / where-ever without stopping to say hello.

Here's a pair of Piper products heading out of Dublin just now, showing the disparity in performance between Woodgate's Chieftain and Air Medical's Cheyenne III ( leading ).

14:20 Northbound out of Dublin to pass over BEL is B752 EI-LBS on the run to Toronto

http://fr24.com/EIN1GH/5399899

Apparently Aer Lingus will be leasing a B762 this summer to supplement the 757s.  Should look good in livery.

Gah!

New livery looks much better than the blank white thing they had previously.

Wow those westerly winds are tough today.  UAL80 westbound is at 370 knots into the wind whereas BAW48 eastbound is at 620!

Woss this then?  Looks like it's passing-by Cusendall from Iceland.  FL250 and  380 kts suggests a turboprop

Hex 89640B is UAE.

^^ Well that one remains a mystery, nothing heard on freq.  But I did just hear this one: Pakistan International B77L climbing-out of Manchester and heading  NW towards us

http://fr24.com/PIA711/53e91da

A new nightly schedule to New York  that appears to have started in Christmas week.

Just noticed OTT Ballymena on FR24 9V-SVN Singapore Cargo B747-412F at 37,000ft and 590kts.(678MPH)

Surely this must be getting close to Mach 1 at that height? :-\    http://www.fighter-planes.com/jetmach1.htm

I noticed some West to East transatlantic traffic seemed to be wizzing across with the very strong tail wind.

East-West transatlantic (west of Limerick ),seem to be at around 380kts to 410kts,so they seem to be struggling into the wind.

Four Typhoons and a Voyager are taking part in Red Flag Nevada USA. http://www.raf.mod.uk/news/archive/four-typhoon-formation-09012015

I suppose we haven`t had much in the way of fast jet visitors to EGAA due to the time of year, and overseas commitments.

Over Banbridge eastbound at 08:20 is a Falcon 7X of Lion Air Services; a nice euphemism for Volkswagen's Cayman-registered flight department.  What  a fleet!

oooh!  A DHC-8-100, that's unusual.  Climbing-out of Prestwick heading NW, presumably on a delivery flight
