Harold returns!  Small Smudge is most pleased.  He didn't like the Puma, "too old too noisy"

I don't know when they arrived but there are four herons sitting unmoving in the grass west of the clubhouse.

Not DH Herons, just to clarify...

If they're still there tomorrow I'll have a go with a long lens.

No sign of the herons this morning, unfortunately.  Regarding the unusual grouping:

Quote
Depending on prey availability and distance, herons use three types of feeding sites: 1) the individual defended feeding area composed of a single patch of about 20 h, usually in wetlands or rice fields; 2) individual nonterritorial feeding areas composed of 2 or 3 patches in poor habitats or in typical habitats more distant from the colony, and 3) neutral feeding sites used by many herons, where individual site appropriation is not possible.

http://www.heronconservation.org/styled-5/styled-29/

Apparently they are semi-migratory, they shift around a bit within the country when the winter approaches and some Continental pairs also over-winter here ( do they eat frogs-legs? )

14:35 arr / 16:30 dep EV97 G-CDIY parked on the grass, unfortunately with the fuel tanker as a backdrop.

15:10 arr / 16:15 dep G-EIAP also parked on the grass

15:15 arr / 16:40 dep A109 G-SCII.  Registered to a generic industrial-estate company in Monaghan but I believe it's based in Newry for ABP Food Group.  A point of detail with this 1990 A109C is that the headlights are separated left / right behind two transparent fairings, whereas 1984 A109A II G-TELY had both lights behind a single central fairing.

16:15 arr / 16:50 dep AP22 G-CBGJ.  Must be a great view, cabin is mostly windows!  Not like a Soviet Foxbat...

G-AWSN on the apron might be SN from earlier

Light was failing quickly by early evening but here's XT-912 G-CFNI on approach, oddly we don't seem to have had a photo of this one yet though it's frequently airborne.  It has the Streak-3 wing and lives over in the western hangars near Woodgate.

10:00 dep / 12:30 arr AS55 G-BPRJ operating close to the airfield.  15:05 dep northwards and didn't return.

10:20 Quite a racket audible, sounds like a twin running-up.  BE20 N509MV out for a ground run.

C206 G-NIME still here.
