Folks, just seen a post on Belfast Coastguard's FB page regarding tomorrow's heli activity.

Quote:

"If you are in the area of Newtownards tomorrow around 2pm you may see a couple of Coastguard Rescue Helicopters and other air assets. Don't be alarmed, we have an exercise planned"

End Quote  :)

Boring static shots, but noticable is the difference in 'reds' on the two Coastguard helis which tend towards the red or orange of the applicable national colours.  But notice too how the red striping on the rotor blades is the same tone for both.

14:25 arr / 16:48 dep S92 G-MCGG callsign CG999

14:30 arr / 16:05 dep S92 EI-ICD, callsign EIICD inbound from Dublin and RESCUE 116 outbound.

EI-ICD heading back to Dublin it seems. Did a couple of laps round Newcastle town and off over mountains.

Ach, I was on the lawn just outside!  With bike / toddler / wife / dog in various states of disarray.

Some cracking views of the helis from up on the tide bank but Small Smudge didn't like the sea-wind, can't say I blame him.

Yep, passed you several times. I was the guy standing on the decking. Stayed until the HM Coastguard S-92 left.

Thought about heading out on to the shore path but have only been to Ards a few times and wasn't sure about getting there from the airfield.

Good catch!

I had to do a pano to fit the wing in!

Motto on tail reads "Heron in flight / Natures microlight".  Missing an apostrophe...

DH82 G-ANDP running-up on grass.  Wants to fly today...?  Yes, airborne at 15:50!  yayy!  Had to suffice with a long-shot from the back-garden as it ambled around over the east of the town.

Should be plenty of close-ups on UFC Facebook given the number of cameras deployed down there today.

Also Colibri G-BXVS sitting-out on apron.

15:40 arr C172 G-BKLO , staying overnight.  You know the evenings are shortening when shutter is down to 1/10th...  1975 Reims F172M.

Flexwings up today included G-CCVJ and G-OLFZ, I will take photos of them too some day I promise.

B06 G-PSHR set-down near Ards at 17:40 but appears to have been off-airfield.

Very nice, and a new colour scheme for the old kite, the previous red/yellow was a bit garish and looked tired.

~ 13:00 NIPR G-AVKK in circuit but doesn't appear to have landed, or perhaps went to the western hangars.

1412 - I believe this is inbound:

G-SHSP - Cessna 172S of Shropshire Aero Club.

Maybe not.  Operating over the"HB" VOR.

1433 - Couple of other tasks to do but moving towards Ards.

Departed approximately 1545 and routing to Cookstown.  Returning to Ards later.

G-CIIN - C42.

11:50 arr / 12:25 dep,  16:00 arr / 16:40 dep C42 G-CIIN

By a strange coincidence the last three of G-CIIN's hex are C42.

DH82 G-ANDP airborne at 17:00 and 17:20 under heavy grey skies, which cleared away to blue about 30 mins later.  Typical!
