Has there been a lot of damage to the aircraft?  Glad the crew ok.

Gear collapsed on the grass, presumably some fuselage damage.  aircraft has been removed on trailer.   Apparently a pan-pan landing.

24 March

10:40 arr / 11:10 dep C42 G-OSTL

16:55 C172 M-BONO emerged from Woodgate and placed into club hangar.

17:30 R44 G-ETNT through the overhead heading for its site in Bangor, returned westwards 18:00.

T600 G-CGFZ up for some evening circuits after 19:00.  Club C172s G-UFCE and G-UFCG night-flying until about 21:30.

Haven't seen C150 G-BEMY since it arrived for servicing.

Club C152 G-UFCN has been reassembled after maintenance but haven't noted it flying yet.  Was in the eastern hangars last week, presumably due to lack of space at Woodgate.

It was rather busy yesterday when I was there. Took a run up to Scrabo afterwards - does this count as a movement?!

Both resident Chipmunks were up on Monday.  DHC1 G-BFDC had a jaunt in the morning and colleague DHC1 G-BWJY was practising grass landings & take-offs parallel with rw 15 in the late afternoon.

No airyplanes to report today, just a note that the Miles factory building has now been totally demolished.  Over the past few months they have been carefully removing the roof and wall panels, presumably due to asbestos, leaving only the internal metal frame.

Big I-beams formed the main support for the 'serrated' roofs braced by an X-shaped web in the same plane.  Vertical front-face which carried the windows was made from T-section beams.  The larger rear bays used the same pattern but in heavier gauge.

Oddly the only other buildings I've seen in that design are in Australia, I've never seen anything like it in those 'I-Spy RAF Buildings' type books, though perhaps it was a 'workshop' rather than a hangar since there wasn't much clearance under the roof.

As far as I know it was original to the airfield, rather than rebuilt by Miles.  Might have to dig into PRONI on that.

Then they wellied into the frame with a couple of excavators.  Just a big pile of twisted metal now.

So ends the last relic of the technical site of RAF Newtownards.

I heard him on the radio saying he was trying to avoid heavy showers and last call was Hillsborough / Dromore.
