BFS Spotters Day
« on: November 18, 2018, 03:41:47 PM »
Folks,
For those who went to the Spotters event at BFS yesterday, was there any indication that this could/would be a regular event?
The original post indicated that there only were 20 places and these were on a first come, first served basis.
Is this correct?

I first saw mention of it on FB on Thursday evening.

I know a couple of the guys off the forum went. Apparently it was organised by the new owners of BFS, they supposedly do this at all their airports.

I saw it advertised, would have been fun, but getting there for 7:30am would have been too hard. So didn't bother inquiring.

As a first it was great, just to see the airport from the 'other side of the fence'. Unfortunately it lasted 3 hours and a good 20 minutes or so of that was taken up getting through security. We were bussed to a couple of areas on the apron and allowed out to take some photos. We were then taken to the other side of the airport, over to the fire station and allowed access to the fire station and to take photos of the aircraft using 07.

As pointed out earlier it was misty and there wasn't a lot to see. As a start it was great but hopefully it can be built on - they have asked for opinions. If I remember correctly it was mentioned as a possible recurring event.
