Aviation Quiz
« on: December 01, 2005, 06:54:39 PM »
I'm thinking of changing the format of the quiz that on the main site. The current one is just a test and is limited to text questions. The new one I'm working on will include text questions, picture questions and I'm hoping audio questions i.e. name this engine sound :)

I got the idea from http://home.clara.net/dkeyadsl/quizpage.htm

This quiz is image based so I'm hoping to add a bit of variety :)

I'll also be running a league table and hope to get it running on the 1st January 2006.

I'll try and post a sample quiz for some feedback over the next few days.

One problem I forsee is that when there aren't standardized choices, people could have the right answer but enter it in a different format and have it counted wrong.

For example, one person says F-22, another says Raptor, and another says F/A-22 Raptor.  All are right, but only one, if any would get it marked correct.

I like the league system though, good idea

With answers like that in my view they would be all be correct. I'm not going to be that strict. I'm not going to ask for the model number e.g F-14 is good enough whether the phot actually show an A,B,C or D model.

Glad you like the league idea :) To be honest it's an idea I got from another site but I guess immitation is the best form of flattery :)

So you're going to review the answers?  I figured it was all matching with an answer key, you put in the answer and if someone's entry matches it, it counts it.  If that's not how it works, then forget I said anything in the first place. :)

Aren't most websites basically just a collection of stuff found on other sites anyways?

They're probably a collection of the same photos but I have literally hundreds of aviation books and magazines that I hope I can find something different in. :)

Like the idea, but one problem springs to mind. A number of different aircraft may use the same type of engine how are you going to differentiate between them? I might give one answer and someone else might give another but both are correct.

Well it turns out that video and sound maybe out. The script that I'm using for the script will only allow images, so I think you'll be safe :)
