Forum Issues
« on: November 29, 2011, 11:03:11 AM »
A member has reported that when he browses to this site his anti-virus software is flagging it as unsafe. I'm looking in to this but at the minute I can't see any problems. I've used a number of on-line scanners and they all report this site as safe - Norton, AVG, MicroTrends etc.

One of the scanners did, however, flag the sites IP address as suspect with two violations. This can't be pinned to this site as it uses what's called shared hosted and shares this IP address with 41,000 other websites. It could be this that's causing the problem with the AV software.

Anyway I thought I'd just let you know and if you have any suspicions about the site please let me know.

I've also reported an issue to the hosting company about the connection to the database timing out. Hopefully I'll get word back on this soon.

Got this from support. Hopefully the speed issue will be resolved soon.

We are aware that some customers are intermittently unable to access   their MySQL Databases on our Shared Hosting Platform.  Whilst the   customer website is still available, we have identified that some sites   may be taking longer than usual to load.  This is not our usual level of   service and we are in the process of rectifying the issue.

Our system engineers are currently upgrading our MYSQL hardware and we   anticipate that the intermittent issues that you may have experienced   will be resolved once this upgrade has completed.
Please accept our apologies for any issues you may have experienced and   be reassured that we have identified this upgrade as the highest   priority with our engineers.

As for the threat problem I'm not sure why AV software is throwing up these warnings. As mentioned previously I've run the site through a number of reputable scanners and they all report it as clean. I will continue to look in to it. Thanks for letting me know.

My McAfee AV is warning of a "cookie-doubleclick" on the site-has been for the past few days and as others have mentioned site can be very slow to load.
I doubt the cookie is much of an issue, but I keep getting an alert about it.

Seems to be intermittent again. I've reported it so hopefully I'll get some feed back from my hosting company.

Okay I've backed up the database and moved it to another server. Hopefully this will resolve the speed issue. Let me know if there are any issues.

Do you mean when you try to add an attachment to a post?

Would the lack of speed not be just down to the sheer volume of internet users at this time of year?

Not at the moment, however I rarely get good speeds from any sites as I have to use mobile broadband which gives me around 512k-1 Mg at best.

I must start hassling BT again and get them to upgrade our phone line so it can use ADSL.

I have changed back to BT a few months ago and we got the infinity broadband package and the speed is fantastic 26meg we get becuase we are a few meters away from the green box. the fibre optic broadband is the best for sure. And there is no drop-out either.
