Unid lightplane north of Ards today
« on: May 21, 2013, 05:18:40 PM »
OK  recce experts, I need your help.  This passed north of Ards heading west at 15:35 BST.

Only had the pocket camera to hand ...

Fixed gear, big canopy reminds me of the Bulldog but it made a very deep droning sound that didn't jog those memories.

Nothing in Mode-S log but the height and direction suggested it was out of EGAC or over from Scotland.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Thats a real tough one Smudge :o  The vertical stabiliser looks very skinny which made me think of a Jabiru JL-450,but I think it is too small.

I think I will take a punt at it being a Eurostar Evektor EV-97 aircraft of some type, based on the Bulldog type canopy you describe, assuming of course that its not a Bulldog or Pup.

Wow I am IMPRESSED!  Thanks guys.

I went to YouTube and watched some EV-97s, they do indeed seem to make a deep droning noise.

Well done AT!
