Title: 633 Squadron the inspiration for Star Wars Death Star attack?

Just watching the the Film 633sqn on Channel 5, and it struck me that there are many similarities to the attack of the Death Star in Star Wars, do you think it's possible the earlier Film inspired the later?

As far as I know it was the inspiration. I'll see if I can dig out the article I read.

Apparently George Lucas was inspired by both 633 Squadron and The Dambusters.

633 Squadron is badly let down by the dreadful unspecial effects.

Yep, you can see how easily he was influenced, and yes I agree, the effects weren't to great either.

It absolutely was, even down to elements if the dialogue.

They even copied the colour codes for the attacking flights, the look of some of the pilots, and the gun emplacements.
