I listened to this nonsense today on Radio Ulster,and later on the news-it struck me as yet another attempt from a moaner trying to get compensation  ::)
I have handled several Air Ambulance flights at BFS,and the aircraft used are usually Piper Navajo Chieftain types or similar-they are not fitted out in a conventional way,and might well look a little rough and ready to those unused to flying in them.

Much of the interior is stripped out including carpet and flooring,and replaced with just a few seats,and space for what ever additional medical equipment is required-it may have been an unpleasant experience for this lady,but I think most of this is down to the fact she probably hasn`t flown in a small aircraft before-they are much nosier than a conventional airliner-I also think her expectations might well have been too high,perhaps she thought she would be in an executive luxury jet.

I don`t think it was necessary to go to the media,fair enough it may have been alarming that the aircraft developed a technincal fault and had to divert; I think it was interesting that UTV didn`t even run the story.

If there was nothing wrong with the present aircraft, why, replace it? Unless there were known issues and a replacement was already being sought when this story was aired?

I think Woodgate do some of the medical flights from BFS. They normally use one of Blue painted twin piper aircraft that would see on the GA Apron. It just sounds like they have nothing better to report on at the BBC. Sounds like the lady in the story is trying to get some compensation. As AT said, sounds like see was expecting a Luxury Private Jet as you can some times get on med vac flights from ski/med resorts.

I can only recall King Airs' and Navajos' used as well,in fact G-GLTT has been using ambulance callsign 'Causeway999A' the last few times I have heard it in the vicinity.It seems to be in good nick if the photos of it are anything to go by.
It does sound like another whinge  ::)
