I know over the course of the last year I have taken a lot of photos, and I'm sure overs have as well. So I thought I'd start a thread to show the photo that you thought was the best you took this year.
So this is mine, taken at Portrush this year.

A great close up there Angry - nice one 8) ;)

Thanks-I like the way the crew are peering out at the crowd-great to see a Nimrod up close again.
I think it is a very special aircraft despite it`s detractor's-poor design of the refueling system, and lack of proper funding for parts, has almost ruined the reputation of a fantastically capable aircraft.
-
Indeed it is a fantastic capture from the Portrush Airshow. I was wondering myself if those were faces at the windows. It's awkward to photo an aircraft upclose and keeping to sharp and the underside well illuminated so congrats! Kudos!

folks iam not really in the same league of photo's !

Nothing wrong with that shot, but I would suggest cropping it in a bit. I took what you've posted and worked with it a wee bit - levels, saturation, sharpening and finally cropped. Hope you don't mind :)

not at all casper looks alot better with even a little bit of work ! Though the camera aint great so even alot of work is quite hard to improve.
-
Not at all - I very rarely use an image straight out of the camera, I always do some kind of manipulation on it. In fact these images are very heavily cropped and I think they still turned out ok.

I also had a go and "cleaning" the pic up for you-couldn`t improve on the sharpness much without going grainy/ and one I took from the cliffs on the Saturday when the sea was very rough, and had to shoot into the Sun.

Looking good. Taken at Portrush? Those pesky single red arrows are quite hard to follow and maintain a focus upon, especially on rocky cliffs at Portrush.
-
Hammerhead and Angry - nice ones. I've changed the title to 'Photos of 2008' so post away :)
-
Great pic Angry.I only managed one good close up of a single Red last year

Edit - posted the wrong Reds pic :-X

Some great shots there Vortex-I love Puma`s-in fact I am a big fan of Heli`s generally-hard to pic a favourite but would have to choose the Wessex I think.
Great machine!
-
Yes - i wish i'd taken up photography back in the 80's.Wessexs' used to regularly land in a field across the road from our house.(We lived next to Grosvenor Barracks, and prior to that helos came in from St Angelo)
-
I have quite a few pics of Ye Olde Wessex, and I was actually lucky enough to fly in one a few times-XR525/G which served with 72 Sqd.
-
A few more of the Red Arrows from Portrush `08
