A few simple ideas to make Airshows a much more enjoyable expierence for us all-especially photographers.
1:Put the tannoy system BEHIND the crowd-I don`t like tannoy poles in my photos! >:(
2:Ban large hats:see above
3:Ban Dogs and children under the age of six (approx)-Many airshows DO ban pets but I have been to several that don`t.Also Young kids get scared senseless by fast jets so leave them at home.
4:Patrol the display line PROPERLY-The last Enniskillen Show was a disgrace in the lack of marshalling-I had to phone the tower several times to tell them kids were running about beyond the display line-what the parents were thinking letting kids run about an active airfield is beyond me!
You can bet they would have been straight down the Solicitors office if anything had happened to their kids.
Rest assured the CAA would hammer the organisers and possibly ban the show if they had seen what was happening.
Maybe Vortex could mention this to the show organisers-I have photos of kids playing right on the runways edge as aircraft were departing :o

I saw kids beyond the wire myself - and i also mentioned it to the staff.I didn't see them at the runway edge though - that is a scary thought :-X :-X
I agree more marshalling is a must - one man going up and down on a quad now and again isn't enough.
I cringe every year at Portrush too when i see small children alone walking right up to the cliff edge and peering over.I'm looking round thinking 'where the hell are your parents??'

I agree with putting the tannoy behind the crowd line. Also umbrellas - very dangerous, and distracting, even in the lightest breeze.
Contacted Enniskillen about this years show but no word back yet.

I had heard possibly late June shared with Ards as before, but that was before the current financial turmoil-It`s likely that the show may not happen this year at all or maybe just at Enniskillen.
At any rate I think the airshows this year will be smaller and shorter than normal-
Also hear NO display Hawk this season-RAF Airshow participation is being cut to the core.
I think the big shows will get bigger and the smaller shows will begin to disappear. :'(
