Would anyone happen to have a #840 key for a Canon lens hard-case that I could borrow to clone?
Unfortunately one of my cases lacks its keys due to a former owner ( grrrr ) and always feels insecure when I'm carrying it; one knock to the latch and it could all come tumbling out...
Canon don't seem to keep them as a spare part, they are issued with the cases. Seems there are only two types in existence, 540 and 840!
They look like this:

Sorry I don`t have such a thing-maybe a local camera club might be able to help,or possibly Calumet or similar?
You could try to get a keymaker to make you one,if you have a detailed enough picture, they might be able to copy it-Havlins in Belfast should be able to do it. http://havlins.net/

Cheers AT. I'll give the key makers a try, it doesn't look too complicated a pattern.
These keys seem to be lost so frequently I'm surprised there isn't a trade in compatible replacements.

For anyon following this exciting thread, apparently a Silca HY5 key-blank is a good basis for making a #840 key...
Hopefully that will assist the key-cutter.

*groan* I did laugh though.
The guys at Fixation (http://www.fixationuk.com/Fixation/Fixation%20-%20Home/Fixation%20-%20Home.html) reckon they've found me a Canon original key at a distributor in Europe, so I've ordered that and I'll make a couple of spares from it in case anyone else suffers a similar problem.
Now I just need a #540 key and I'm future-proofed!

Glad to hear you got sorted.
