Title: Canon 'affordable' long-prime sometime in 2016?
Post by: smudge on May 30, 2015, 09:19:59 PM
Reading rumours in the Web of an 'affordable' ( possibly non-L ) Canon long-prime currently in development to try to compete with the Tamron and Sigma 150-600s.

Speculation that it could be a 500mm f/5.6, trying to keep the objective lens to < 10 cm in diameter. Could be a handy airshow lens, light enough to hand-hold.

Meanwhile the old 400mm f/5.6 is apparently on the way out, having been superseded by the 100-400 Mk II.  Might be worth keeping an eye open for run-out offers.
