Title: Virgin 787-9 Dreamliner "Ruby Murray"
Post by: viking9 on July 13, 2015, 11:33:17 AM
Just noticed this was delivered about two months ago.

I was a big fan of Ruby. She took the trouble to come and entertain us troops
in Aden in the early sixties, along with Harry Secombe, despite the dodgy security situation.

Interesting, I wasn't familiar with Ruby and was surprised to learn she was from Belfast.

Definitely a more mature title than I expected from Virgin who usually veer to the tacky end of the scale ( VWKD, VWAG etc )

Ah phoooey, they named it for the cockney slang for a curry :(

So that's Virgin back down to the bottom of my Respect List.

But the phrase still originates with our Ruby Murray...her name was borrowed into Cockney rhyming slang. So we'll claim it anyway ...  ;D
