Hi guys i need help identifying this aircraft which was heading for derry airport around 11:30 this morning.
not sure what airline it is either.
[old post - attachment deleted by admin]
-
That is EI-CVR - operated by Aer Arann. They are in and out of Derry regularly.
-
I don't usally see them it must be the wind direction that's making them fly over coleraine. i've been living at this address for 2 yrs and that's the first Aer Arann i have seen nice.
-
You should ask Santa to bring you a cheap scanner for Xmas - you would be able to hear all these aircraft you are filming talking to ATC. 8) 8) :D
-
I have a scanner but i am always too busy doing something when i hear the aircraft flying over so i just catch them. But i will switch it on and keep it on as long as the batteries last.
-

I may be wrong but I think it's an Air France Cargo 747.
-
I think your right.
-
Nice and low, nice pics!
-
I was watching it then it went into some clouds then dissappeared. the sky was clear behind the cloud so i should have seen it leave the clouds but it must have changed it's flight path and stayed in the clouds.
-
everytime i see this thread title, the Fray song, over my head starts playing in my head (that was a tongue twister !)
-
I think this a squirrel helicopter.

That would be a Global Supply Systems B747F. They operate cargo flights on behalf of British Airways. Nice catch!
http://www.airliners.net/photo/Global-Supply-Systems/Boeing-747-47UF-SCD/1647599/L/ (http://www.airliners.net/photo/Global-Supply-Systems/Boeing-747-47UF-SCD/1647599/L/)

Got this nice looking helicopter heading towards castlerock.
I think that's an AugustaWestland Grand New.
-
It`s an Agusta A-109 E Power.
-
With respect I must disagree.
Note the configuration of the two windows in the passenger compartment.
AW109 Power
(http://www.niaviation.co.uk/file:///C:/Users/Dec/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot-2.png)(http://www.flightglobal.com/airspace/media/galleries/images/4483/500x400/agusta-a109e-power-zr321-royal-air-force.jpg)
Grand New
(http://www.helicopterbusinessindex.com/aircraftPictures/model/604.jpg)
The third window (furthest from the pilot) on the AW109 is very narrow compared to the large middle window whereas on the Grand New the third window is markedly wider.
That's just my read of it :)
-
It would seem you are correct-there are so many variations of A109`s.
I don`t understand why Agusta give the A109 such stupid names. ???
It looks to me as if it might be an Irish registered machine.
Possibly EI-NBG which I photographed at BFS a few times and is listed as an Agusta A109S Grand. I`m even more confused now ;D

Some nice shots there but I hope you don`t mind me asking if you are using Auto ISO as the pics are very grainy?
If you are,may I suggest you try setting the ISO yourself;you should find the images are better quality.
As a rough guide I would use 100-150 ISO for sunny/bright.200-250 ISO for overcast, and 300-400+ ISO for very dull conditions.
Try experimenting with different settings on your camera, and see how things turn out.
-
Thanks for the ISO help great stuff
