Title: Space Shuttle Endeavour Pre Launch Activity
Post by: Snoop55 on July 10, 2009, 09:08:02 AM
The much delayed launch of the Space Shuttle Endeavour is looking more promising as the TAL Rescue Support aircraft departed Ramstein yesterday afternoon enroute the TAL site at Zaragoza.  UHF SATCOM downlink was active on 261.575 with Herky 251, Herky 252, Wolfhound and Wolf Den.  One of the aircraft declared an IFE returning to Ramstein although it was airborne again later in the afternoon.

The launch target is set for 7.39 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, July 11.

The launch target is set for 7.39 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, July 11.

With Cumulus clouds and lightning near the launch pad the launch of STS-127 was once again posponed.  Another attempt is planned for July 13, 2009 at 6:51 p.m. EDT 2306 UTC.

On a similar theme, the ISS is making visible passes over Northern Ireland at the moment and with the Progress-M 02M resupply craft just ahead of the space station made for interesting viewing last night.

One of my biggest disappointments was not seeing a Shuttle launch - I was in Florida on my honeymoon many years ago and there was a Shuttle launch scheduled while I was there. Had a great view and it was cancelled 10 minutes before launch. This was in July and it was launched until September.
