Anyone know what the Army Air Corps formation was for yesterday with the following noted over Ballymoney.
AAC571 - Gazelle AH1 - 665 Squadron
AAC585 - Islander AL1 - 1 Flight
AAC595 - Defender T3 - 651 Squadron
-
Seen this formation a couple of times this week-practise for some sort of shindig I think-could be something to do with the transfer of RAF Aldergrove to the Army-but as yet no firm date seems to have been set for that.
I would guess end of September but my sources haven`t heard anything definitive as yet.

I contacted the base a few months ago to ask if there was anything planned for the handover but as of then there wasn't. Maybe that has changed.
-
Another theory I had about the formation is that possibly they were taking photos of the aircraft for an AAC Calender or something similar.

You mean the pilot was naked - oops not one of those calendars :LOL :LOL

:LOL
When is the actual date that the hand over of the base happens on?
-
Nothing Offical as yet but I reckon end of September seems likely.

It is the end of september, i cant give the exact date for security reasons

In September we shall bring down the RAF Ensign for the last time and the Station shall be renamed Joint Helicopter Command Flying Station Aldergrove. The name may change but our engagement efforts to become better participants and neighbours in the community as a whole will continue as they have always done.
