A friend of mine has told me that Short's Bombardier are bringing two Short Skyvan's to Belfast on Tuesday the 4th of August.
Now weather these are the Shorts SC7 Skyvans or Shorts 360's, I'm unsure. He mentioned there are only two of them in operation within the UK so it could be the SC7 skyvan.
;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Think there are two still in Skyvans in use in the UK by Parachute clubs.
Some very colourful ones about in Europe-I recall seeing one based in Austria painted up as a pink pig complete with curly tail!
-
One of the UK Skyvan's is ironically registered G-PIGY. I'd have preferred to see some Shorts 360's/330's back in Belfast, but I guess the chubbier Skyvan's would still be a welcome sight.

Miss Piggy :)

Any idea what time they're coming in at?

Casper, it's the last two Skyvans operating in the UK which will be making the visit. I don't know what time they are landing but can confirm viewing is from 1530-2000 and they will be parked where the Red Arrows were last year at the Shorts side.
-
Are they open to the general public?
-
was just watching the all time classic Soldier,Soldier, and guess what they were parachuting out of ;D
-
A plane? :LOL :LOL :LOL
Sorry couldn't resist it :)

I don't think so Casper, I'm pretty sure it's a case of Family and Friends
-
Has been mentioned to me an arrival time of about 10.00am into The City on Tuesday.

It'll be G-PIGY and G-BEOL.Both have been para-dropping at Clonbullogue for the past week, and as i have also heard G-ETHY out and about i assume it was active down there also.
-
Awesome guys! Thanks for the info. I'm working Tuesday evening but hoping to swap a shift with someone allowing me to spend the day at the airport. Will likely see some of you guys there?
-
I should be there from 9ish if they're coming in about 10. If the company is good ;-) I might spend a good few hours there too!
-
I'll probably head down for 9ish myself and as the weathers not looking too great, i'll be heading straight for Ikea's middle lvel of the carpark ;D

Anyone with a scanner tuned to 128.55 might be able to hear them. The event at Clonbullogue lasts until August 3rd.

one of these would be a nice addition to the party too.....http://forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10284.... pity they are heading the wrong way...

I asked for it

Don, a Shorts Sherpa would be a cool addition, or even a Shorts 330/360.
Any more news on this/ I've kept an eye out for them appearing on the BHD schedules but nothing so far.
-
Well I arose out of my kip early for once and made my way down to BHD. There were 12 to 13 other photographers and I must say it's nice to see so many aviation photographers at once at BHD. I met Paultojo (Paul), EGAA/EGAC (Simon) and BHD (Craig/Woody), sorry if there was anyone else I didn't get talking too.
Also a few members from NIAG and the Ulster Aviation Society, however in the excitement, I forgot to get their names. All the guys I got talking to were nice so will hopefully cross paths again!
I might as well post the interesting pics from this morning besides the Skyvan photos;

Simon and Woody, finally we meet. Thanks for the good company this morning guys!

I've always wanted a spotting location photo at BHD but I think I will wait for some better weather.

The Skyvan's approached in partial formation and did a fly past.

Not the best weather but it was great meeting other NI photographers and great seeing some originl Shorts Bombardier aircraft 8)
I am told they are due to depart between 7.30 and 8pm tonight however I will not be able to make it down again today due to other commitments.
It was great meeting you guys and hopefully we shall all meet again soon!
