Low-cost airline Ryanair spent 85 million euros (57.5 million pounds) on Tuesday raising its stake in rival carrier Aer Lingus to 25 percent from 19 percent, RTE reported.
RTE said it understood Ryanair -- which had launched a takeover bid for recently floated Aer Lingus in October -- bought the shares from a U.S. hedge fund late on Tuesday at an average price of 2.75 euros.
