Title: Emergency Landing at Aldergrove
Post by: Xair on September 08, 2009, 01:29:03 PM: Just listening to ATC bringing in an Aircraft with a suspected Engine Fire, I can only pick up the Pilot as I'm so far away, Anyone else picking this up?

Post by: Xair on September 08, 2009, 01:42:49 PM: Pilot called tower and asked for nearest available runway as he had an engine fire warning. Tower advised that he could offer runway 25 and that he was only 2.5 miles away. Pilot accepted and was advised of coordinated. I could't get any more than that >:(

From what I heard it was enroute somewhere else and just happened to be near Aldergrove. I was out in the Van with the scanner set on Approach and part of the message got distorted. I think the comms moved to Tower quite quickly. Sorry I can't be more precise, just wish I had of been at home on the bigger antenna.

Comms was heard at 1.23pm so I doubt that it was the above flight. Is there a list of aircraft that have landed at Aldergrove today. Maybe it would shed some light for us.

Easyjet - EZY6765 from malaga - landed at 13:29
Aer Lingus - EI 0049 from malaga - landed at 13:36
**ALL FROM FLIGHT STATS**
** NO FLIGHTS IN OR OUT FROM DUBLIN WHERE DIVERTED , POSSIBLY A FLIGHT HEADING TO ENGLAND ?**

I didn't realise XL Airways still existed, thought they went under last year?

Could it have been a smaller aircraft such as a Cessna, etc.

XL Airways of the UK went bust but XL airways from Frnace and germany still exist http://www.xl.com/ (http://www.xl.com/)

I asked a friend who's friend works at Aldergrove and he said there was no emergency landing but suggested that it might be a training flight by a small aircraft or the Army who would make an approach and then abort ???
