An incident illustrating TCAS in action.
1st January: Egyptair Cargo A306 SU-GAY was climbing out of Ostend heading east past Ghent and cleared to FL210. Meanwhile Air France A320 F-GKXN was heading to Amsterdam at FL220. The controller advised that they would be crossing paths.
However it seems that the A306 continued on through FL210 as it approached the A320 and the TCAS triggered, commanding the Air France crew to climb and Egyptair to maintain level. The two aircraft passed within 1,370 metres horizontal and 91 metres vertical clearance.
