Ah so that what went over me, about 11:50 but wasn't descending.
Mode-S has it down to 1725ft at 12:01 and exactly the same alt at 12:43. EGAC usually goes well below that for me, so not sure where it went. Perhaps a survey flight?

Many thanks for that info. Yes I did think that too, although a friend who's involved with that particular operation tells me supply movements are completed when she's berthed alongside in port. Ship operator had broad scottish accent, so that narrows it down a little... lol! ;D

Anyone pick anything up over Newcastle?
I was coming out of Lidl car park, and a bright Red/Orange aircraft flew quite low. Looked like a Piper PA-22, going by the colour I would think G-ARDS?
My friends dashboard cam should have caught it so I will check it out later again.
-
It`s unlikely to have been G-ARDS,it has been resident in York since 2013.
Was it a high, mid or low mounted wing ?
Probably best not to go into too much detail here, because someone must have been rather naughty to fly at low height. ;)
-
High mounted wing from what I remember. Didn't realize G-Ards was away.
Edited my original post so as its not too detailed. Was a fun flypast to say the least lol.
-
I`m sure it was a fun thing to see - hopefully no one will go gurning to the powers that be. :D

Could fly at 1ft if you wished, just need to be 500ft away from any person or object!

There was a Red Thing at EGAD yesterday, departed around 16:05 / 16:10
Times and outline correspond with IoM-based C42 G-CEGZ.
Update 2: G-CEGZ confirmed as still in standard white. So still puzzled.
Perhaps Thruster G-CBVA over for a visit from the western hangars?

There was a Red Thing at EGAD yesterday, departed around 16:05 / 16:10
Times and outline correspond with IoM-based C42 G-CEGZ which visited but I've never seen an all-red C42 before! I thought they were always white due to the anti-UV coating used.
Update: apparently it can be done, here's a different C42 EI-ELC all-red:
https://flyinginireland.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/EI-ELC-Mark-Dwyer.jpg
Not sure that's a C42? I seen a red taildragger flying low round 5:50pm. That was round the South Down area heading south. It would match better with the description here
-
Not sure that's a C42?
Dunno either, that's the only evidence I have :(
Other local red-thing options:
TAYB G-BPHO ( taildragger )
PA22 G-BTKV ( trigear )
X'Air Hawk G-CFJL ( red trigear but with splashes of blue )
-
I wonder could it have been a Land Africa,or an Aeronca of some type - they look similar to the C42. :-\
-
The EGAD Red Thing was resident X'Air Hawk G-CFJL. Landed back around 17:25.
So just the South Down Red Thing remains a mystery.
