Title: Russian attack helicopter fires on spectators during exercise

It`s hard to tell if people had gathered where they should not have been,or was it some other reason - if it was at an airshow I thought that mil aircraft were not to carry live weapons.
Most likely thing it was a live fire exercise,and those people and cars should not have been there,however you would expect the heli crew not to open fire if that was the case. :-\

Weird.

I would think this is some kind of range area such as Spadeadam where aircraft can practice live-firing and the crew have assumed the vehicles are part of the target. Given the range of the firing point I can only say the crew didn't carry out checks for "live" targets as there shouldn't have been any.

Zapad 2017 is the current Russian/Byelorussian Exercise that some of the newspapers were telling us we should be very scared about last week.
