makes it even worse that i had just picked up a x2 teleconverter that would have gave me 1200mm. could have got nice and close. problem is that it is manual focus only, so tricky to dial it it. a bit of trial and error ahead and marking up the focus ring. got this from east belfast earlier in the day, it was over irish sea/bangor direction at the time.
