Title: Flickr changes 2019 - New Paid service tier
Post by: jasT1981 on November 01, 2018, 07:11:39 PM
Looks like some changes to Flickr

Free account users limited to 1000 photos ending the free 1 TB of space, from Feb 2019 any free user with more than 100 photos will have them 'managed' starting with oldest first.

Pro price will be $50 a year (apx £40) but a 30% discount at the minute.

The underlying reason being that the new owners ( SmugMug ) have to move storage off Yahoo's servers and into Amazon S3, which is much more expensive.  So they needed a way to reduce the amount of data.

But there are better ways of doing that than just retrospectively deleting photos which were uploaded in good faith under previous terms of service.

Is there any decent alternatives? I've used multiple Google Drive accounts for their free storage. But that's more for storage not showcasing.
