Title: RAF Herc`s at BFS
Post by: Angry Turnip on December 30, 2009, 02:28:41 PM
Anybody here got access to an SBS?-I thought I heard what sounded like two Hercules C-130`s leaving BFS last night between 2100 and 2330 approx.

Possibly in to re-supply the camp after Christmas.

I haven`t been too well over holidays so didn`t have my radio to hand to try and catch the callsigns.

Looks like 07 will be in use all week so aircraft departing are going out right over our house-if it wasn`t so clod and wet maybe I could get some photos`s! :'(

See! It`s so cold I can`t even spell!

Hi A T

I have a radarbox and there were no RAF Hercs last night on it at any rate. Indeed the RAFstill seem to be on Christmas holiday. However I was trying to get a position for an AN 12 around thatat time, might be a possible source of the sounds you heared?

Was recently over at Lyneham on a camp with the ATC. The same question was asked. Thing is that they are so busy with the rest of the RAF operations all over the world, even Lyneham their home rarley sees all of their aircraft.

Thanks for the info CJ40-RAF Hercs are still fairly regular into BFS,normally they come in early 0630ish and leave within an hour.

2 or 3 per month is about average, but will probably get a bit less frequent with the change to JHC;however they still have to get the supplies in some way! ;)
