Title: Bray Air Display - 27th & 28th July 2019
Post by: jasT1981 on January 23, 2019, 03:21:20 PM
Bray have announced their dates for 2019 on their website. Weekend after RIAT as per usual, so more than likely I won't be able to do it.

Full line up revealed, very poor show I think considering the progress they made between 2015 & 2017. With the IAA cancelling Foynes sponsorship to focus on 'other areas' i wonder if it had a knock on effect on Bray given how close they were linked to each other.

Strikemasters, Blades and Rich Goodwin are great, but it is a huge step-down I feel. No French, Swedish or Norwegian jets.

That line-up is a bit feeble, perhaps the organisers want to promote home aircraft and displays, or more likely it`s a lack of funding.

A drone delivery display isn`t something I ever expected to see featured at an airshow.

IAA have apparently pulled funding for all airshows. Foynes got hit hard and had to be cancelled. Bray still has a lot of commercial sponsorship however it is very noticeable in the drastic change of dynamic in the line up

Did anyone get down to Bray? Apparently there was a very close call for David Bruton in the super Sukhoi had a VERY near miss with the sea today.

Apparently only a 2 and half hour display and Strikemasters had a tech issue, and for something like 5th year in a row Blades didn't show up.

TBH I'd happily have travelled for the A320/PC-9 formation, bit peeved about that but otherwise it sounds like it was a dead loss.

Yeah,  bit annoyed I missed that too.

Navette Bretone was a no show too.

David Bruton in the super Sukhoi had a VERY near miss with the sea today.

From what I saw in the media it was an overreaction to a stall turn. But awaiting confirmation
