Title: A320 Neo
Post by: greglloyd on July 02, 2019, 06:19:36 PM
Just watched an easyJet A320 Neo fly over here on its way to Alicante. Nice sound from it. The sound drew my attention. Different engine tone. More whistle as it approached and a deeper tone as it passed over time and flew south. That’s the new geared turbo fans. After it passes over it sound more like a bigger bird in tone but much quieter.

Would like a flight on one. I like the sound of them from inside. They spoil up more like a Trent turbofan in engine tone.

I flew on the Norwegian MAX to the US last year...while not a GTF, the LEAP56 was also very impressive...never knew a 737 could be so quiet!

I've watched the BA Neos launch out of EGAC a few times, very impressive noise and they go off like a 757

Theres very little rumble  off them down the runway, plus added thrust and 20% saving on fuel, super!

Very quiet inside too, especially ahead of the engines. You could almost be forgiven for feeling like engines aren’t running during cruise and descent. Initially quite strange when you’ve been used to screaming CFM56’s and IAE V2500’s over the years.

Cabin noise levels (by the window) quite similar to new generation widebodies.
