Title: China unveils new fighter jet
Post by: casper on January 07, 2007, 02:03:54 PM
China has unveiled its Jian-10 multi-role indigenous fighter jet, marking a "historic leap forward" and narrowing a technological gap with major military powers, state media said on Saturday.

China is the fourth country in the world capable of developing its own advanced fighter aircraft, engines and air-to-air missiles, the People's Daily, the mouthpiece of the Communist Party, said in a front-page story.

The newspaper did not identify the three other countries, but defense analysts said it was apparently referring to the United States, Russia and France.

China is still unable to make advance radars like US and russia. But with the pace they are going it will be really soon like WS-10 Engines/awacs etc.
Pakistan will buy these planes to keep check IAF.project J-XX stealth plane is really going to change the balance of power as japan will get F-22 planes....when no one knows but Japanese official said in news here that they will ask USA to give export version of raptor.if japs unable to get raptors they will be in littel pressure.Japan vs China war is economic not conventional war.and china is really beating them.
       Hope For Best.

Lovely video. Can't help but notice how much like the Saab Gripen it is, especially in it's olive drab.

I've been reading elsewhere that some are suggesting that it is based on the cancelled Israeli Aerospace Industry (IAI) Lavi lightweight fighter. Both parties (China & Israel) deny it but when you look at them they are very very similiar.
