Air Ambulance helicopter service temporarily suspended

Air Ambulance NI and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service have temporarily suspended the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service.

They say that the "difficult decision" took effect from 19:00 BST.

They say the temporary suspension is "to free up key clinical staff to be redeployed to use their specific skills and expertise in critical care during the current public health emergency".

The decision will be reviewed on "an ongoing basis with all parties committed to recommencing the service immediately when the staff can be reallocated".

Not a decision with which I agree.

As they say in their website "Serious or life-threatening situations can happen to anyone at any time". But those people have now been disregarded in favour of others whose symptoms take 14 days to develop. I can't understand that logic.

Looking at other units around the country they've been fitted with isolation tanks, whether that's a factor not I couldn't say.
It's flying this morning mind you!
