Allegedly it's home base is being fought over currently.

Took me a while to figure out the photo, doesn`t look good. Seems as if a missile has gone straight through the hanger roof and into the forward fuselage.

I found this, I wish I hadn`t but there you go, the ANT-225 is wrecked.
What a sorry sight it is, I can`t see how much could be salvaged.

Sad end to a piece of history. I doubt they'll be able to salvage anything. If you look at the shrapnel wounds to her nose who's to say the engines aren't riddled with shrapnel?? In any case where is the spare/ only airframe now left located?
-
Also I've heard the question asked why wasn't she flown out before it all kicked off possibly taking people with her??

Was awaiting uncarrige repair after a hard landing, from what I've read.

I read that it's at an Antonov manufacturing facility somewhere in Kyiv. I read that on the internet, so value it as you will. If it's true, I suppose it's not super secure either :/

Sviatoshyn, and there was a piece on Al Jazeera the other day about Libyan planes stored there being in danger.

Proposals to rebuild the AN225. Will cost $3bn and a funding campaign has begun.
