A spokeswoman for the MoD said that the work of the Nimrod would be   carried out "by a variety of different aircraft, fixed wing and   helicopters, which carry out the role that the Nimrod currently does".

Why use one aircraft when you can use two or more. Idiots.

I dont know what the MOD are playing at;they are also planning to retire a squadron of Tornado GR4`s and a Harrier squadron, and close RAF Cottesmore.

All this when the campaign in Afganhistan is crying out for air support-is it me or is that just crazy! ::)
