Has anyone any timings yet for any of the aircraft? As long as this weather holds I cant see why the spit and hurricane can come across.

Local council website had BBMF listed as 1615 or 4.15pm if you prefer, but have changed it to 1645 or 4.45pm.

Armed Forces Day 2023 | Mid and East Antrim Borough Council (https://www.midandeastantrim.gov.uk/things-to-do/whats-on/armed-forces-day-2023)

Scroll down the site list for timings-sounds like it`s going be chocca and no parking anywhere--I just hope the weather behaves itself.

There's mention of a good old park and ride. I'm sure it'll work out just fine ☺️

Someone has made a boo boo of this weekend's roster.  So is the Lanc coming and if it does, it will be one flyby?
Title: Re: Armed Forces Day Northern Ireland
Post by: Angry Turnip on June 16, 2023, 04:33:49 PM
Larne is meant to be a display for the Lancaster, the Portadown aspect will likely be a flypast only.

The next event for the Lanc after Larne, is Cumbria at 1846 unless I am reading the list wrongly ?

Is anyone going to anywhere around Larne to see the Lancaster?  I was thinking of Ballylumford area etc to avoid the crowds, but before that, keeping a close eye on the weather/news updates from BBMF.

It's as if the BBMF are spreading themselves very thinly today. They have even mentioned a flypast for the Kings birthday. What's wrong the reds arent doing a flypast this year?

The Red Arrows are doing the King's Flyby, along with the BBMF Spitfire.

I know they but apprently the BBMF have a full quota for the flypast at London also and let's say there transit times are slightly longer than the reds.

1100 Weather at Ballygally ( 10 mins up road from Larne ) is awful, visibility is approx 200yrds, very misty over the sea especially, medium rain and very light winds, temp is 16C.

Larne - BBC Weather (https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2644849)  Does not look promising, and also we need to factor in the weather enroute. I would say it`s a 70% chance the Lancaster will cancel, but I do hope I am wrong.
Doesn`t seem fair after 3 weeks of great weather, and tomorrow afternoon looks much better, just to rub noses in it.

Looks to be drying up come the Lancaster display time. Here's hoping

1358 Still raining where I am, but not as heavy, a tiny bit brighter, problem is the sea mist, forecast for 3.30pm to 4pm doesn`t look too bad now, but hard to know.

Was good to see the Lancaster. Did it go via Portadown? I heard him on with BHD radar saying he was heading for the Larne airshow  ;D

No the Portadown fly past was scrubbed due to the weather so he turned back between Ballynahinch and Dromore area and headed for the Co.Down coast following it up and across the lough for Larne
