Title: Ice Pilots on Quest Channel
Post by: Angry Turnip on April 23, 2010, 01:51:42 PM
Anybody watch this last night on Quest channel?
I only saw the last 10 minutes as I forgot it was on.

Quest is on channel 38 Freeview.

The programme is similar to Ice Road Truckers but follows a group who operate vintage freighter aircraft in Northern Canada.

The bit I saw they were flying a C-46 Commando and had an engine failure-yikes!

Was on again tonight-one of the C-46`s had to get an engine changed in -30C Conditions and NO HANGER to work in :o

Everything was freezing up including the engine oil and other fluids-seems likea crazy idea to use aircraft from the mid 40`s and early 50`s to carry heavy freight in such harsh conditions.

They got an new aircraft in tonights show-A Lockeed Electra  :D
