The RAF has begun withdrawing the VC-10 fleet from service. :(
Two aircraft have recently been retired XV109(frequent visitor to Aldergrove), is to be scrapped and another airframe retained for spares.
Very sad to see yet another long serving aircraft begin to disappear from RAF service.
All RAF VC-10`s will have retired by mid-2011. :'(

An aircraft going out of service shouldn't be a sad occasion. But what is sad is when there isn't something bigger, better or faster being brought into service to replace it.

Indeed.Far too many types have to soldier on until they are literally held together with duct tape.
Less money spent on spongers and illegal immigrants, more on new aircraft, equipment etc.

Agreed.
Jaguar - No replacement
Sea Harrier - No replacement
Nimrod MR2 - No replacement
VC10 - No replacement

Well I think it is sad that the VC-10 is being withdrawn;it`s one of my favourite aircraft and I will miss it.
It`s big,fast,elegant and noisey-what more could you want? ;D
