Title: My son's first plane spotting trip!
Post by: greglloyd on July 05, 2010, 08:06:59 PM
Took my one and a half year old son out on his first plane spotting trip today. He's always standing in the garden looking up at the planes flying over and going "wow!". We also sit and watch YouTube and flightlevel350 videos together and he gets engrossed!

So, up to Aldergrove we go on Saturday afternoon and park beside Creative Homes, Killead. As luck would have it his first bird was a Thomas Cook A330-200 coming in to pick up passengers bound for Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Nice first effort! The Airbus made him a little emotional as it came overhead given the size and noise, but he soon got into the swing of it all.

Following this, we saw a couple of A320's and Jet2 737's - about 7 aircraft in all over the space of an hour. He seemed to enjoy it all with plenty of chatter and babbling!

Today, on the way home from Belfast Zoo, we popped up to Killead again and watched a First Choice A320 and TCX A321 - both coming in from Dalaman.  Not that I'm trying to steer his interests mind!  ;)   :P

Start them young!  ;D  In my junior days, not along ago mind you, the old BHD carpark provided some brilliant opportunities to wave at pilots as they taxied past to RWY 04. Nothing but a single wire fence between you and the planes. And the smell of engine exhaust... good times!  :D
