Title: Manchester 31/08 - 01/09
Post by: kingsavo on August 31, 2010, 05:43:47 AM
Going to be trying to do this as a 'live' report! I'll try to upload some photos tonight from my first ever day spotting at Manchester. Booked this trip with the main idea being to catch the first ever A380 service (Emirates) out of MAN tomorrow!

Anyway. Arrived at the City Airport just after 5 this morning and was amazed at how empty it was! Bit of advice if anyone is flying on Flybe. DO NOT CHECK IN ONLINE! If you do so you will end up with an aisle seat as it will no longer ask you what you prefer. But as the check in was empty I was able to get re-checked in without any hassle to seat 18A! (Try doing that on Ryanair!  :P ).

I'm now sitting in the upstairs cafe which has been very nicely redecorated! A very modern appearance now. Got my coffee (which is STILL stinking by the way) and now having a look out at the pitch black ramp. 5 Flybe Dash 8s and 2 E195s. 1 bmi A319. 1 Ryanair B738. Not even any rampers out there yet.

That will do for now! Finished the rotten coffee and will pack up and go for my dander around!

Well now that it has got brighter I can make out that it is a bmi A320! A rare sight these days. And on the far side on the Shorts apron is what im assuming are 3 learjets parked up

Right well spent 9 hours out there taking photos! 1100 of them! Trigger happy! Spent first part of the day from 9 til 2ish on the south side at various locations then moved round to the viewing park! Which is a photographers dream after 3pm or so! Well I basically had had enough so I headed to my hotel and now its time for dinner and beer. Much needed! Will put a few photos on before bed.

Nice one Keith, glad the weather remained decent for you. Good luck with the A380 arrival tomorrow, a bit disappointed myself that I couldn't join you. How do you rate the AVP burger bar?  ;D  Those slied sausages are yummy!

Nice foties  :D  Was the tour around the Concorde worth it? I always felt that when it was enclosed into the hanger, it couldn't be appreciated as much, despite the hangers purpose to protect it from the elements.

Very nice  :D  Some new airlines in there that I've not seen at MAN before. Nice weather as well, looks like it was a successful trip all round.

So the real question... Where are you going to head to next time... Glasgow or Manchester  :P
