Anyone heading over this year? Im heading over for the day, should be a good show. Hopefully weather will keep.
-
heading to leuchars this weekend think weather is going to be fine
-
Flying over Saturday morning and coming back on Sunday.
Watching the weather and praying :-\
-
Are you flying easyjet Keegster?
-
Yep, 0740 out of BFS.
-
Weather forecast looks promising for tomorrow but still bringing my waterproofs :)
-
Hope you get the weather and have a nice day :)
-
Always a good idea to bring waterproofs to any UK show ;)
Haven`t been to the Leuchars show before;might give it a whirl next year instead of Portrush ;D
-
First off let me say, "Arrrrgh, sunburn."
The weather gods toyed with us for a while with showers and low cloud before giving an afternoon of clear blue sky, which as previous visitors to Leuchars have pointed out is a big no, no.
So the show, in a nutshell it was great despite arriving over an hour late and that was just getting from the car park to the airfield.
Besides the usual Typhoons, Tornados, F-16's, and warbirds they had a display by an F-86 Sabre which I'd never seen in the flesh before, very nice.
Crowds were huge, on par with Fairford but not as mad as Farnborough.
I'm now in a pub in Glenrothes downing a few pints before flying home tomorrow.
Pictures (took nearly 1k) to follow.
-
Glad you had a get time and the weather played ball. Enjoy your pint(s) :)
-
Glenrothes not far from my old home, Roundabout city glenrothes is called locally.

Here's an initial cull from the pile:

Interesting fact - the Hunter to this day holds two world records:
i) The largest number of aircraft to perform a loop in formation - 22!!!!
ii) The largest number of aircraft to perform a roll in formation - 16!!!!
Both these feats were achieved at the 1958 Farnborough Airshow.
22 aircraft - that's mind boggling :o
Would dearly love to have seen it though.
-
I have a video of the 1958 Farnborough Show and it features the Black Arrows performing the 22 Hunter formation loop-fantastic.
Team Viper with 4 Hunters-drool!
The raspbery ripple one is the aircraft that was to display at Portrush this year, but let`s not go there. >:(

Great day all around!

Or 'Les Fleches Noir' as the French dubbed them following their appearance at the Paris Air Show in '57 ;D
