6 sqn has now been made offical from 6th sept. RAF leuchars euro-fighter upgrade had now begun with 6sqn now based there with the last tornado sqn to retire sometime in march 2011, if all goes well raf leuchars should remain an active air-base leaving lossiemouth and kinloss hanging in the ballance either one may be closed. defence cut backs may hurt either one according to the the scottish goverment they are trying to find a way of saving all of the bases including HMS gannet which is also a doubt, alex salmond believes that there is a solution to saving these much needed air-sea rescue services that opperate from lossimouth kinloss and gannet but how they will go about it seems hard but they must solve it to save the lives. and quickly.
