Title: Loud aircraft, Belfast around 1145
Post by: stcolin on August 09, 2012, 12:05:22 PM
Sitting in the office here, heard something pretty loud and sounded slow, like the old mail flights you can hear at night.

Anyone any ideas what it was?

Cheers

Colin

Hi guys!

I can confirm, that I heard and seen something matching the description given by 'stcolin' yesterday morning.

The aircraft itself wasn't very big at all, it was a twin prop, and looked dark in colour, it was flying just below the cloud level which was probably about 7,000ft.

By the sound of your description Jake,it may have been an AAC Islander/Defender.

Sometimes when they operate at higher altitudes they sound like a much larger aircraft- I have been fooled a few times into thinking it was a Hercules.

Hi again guys,

Absolutely spot on! Of course the AAC Islander/Defender is dark in colour so that would match the colour description and it was a twin prop along with it's relatively small size in the sky.

Thanks AT and Alan. :)
