Title: Aurora Borealis
Post by: JoeyB on October 09, 2012, 07:18:49 AM: Something a bit different for me, spent last night (until 3am!...yawn.....) at the north coast having a go at capturing the 'Northern Lights' for the first time.

Couldn't honestly say, I don't have much knowledge about it, just what I've picked up on a few web sites such as http://www.nightskyhunter.com/ (http://www.nightskyhunter.com/)
and for forcasts as to likely sun activity I watch these sites:

unfortunately you don't get much advanced warning most of the time (Takes me about an hour & half to get to north coast :( ), but that seems to be the best spots for pics as there's not too much light pollution (mainly Portrush).

Some of the best photos of the Aurora from Northern Ireland - Great quality.

We might get another glimpse of it tonight, but it's a bit cloudier out there today!
