Title: Flight Safety

I was talking to a work collegue today and the subject of flight safety came up. Naturally I defended the safety of flying, but I'm now wondering if anyone has ever experienced any problems during a flight?

Never had an inflight incident but I remember being on a 737 and during the flight I looked out over the wing and a good part of the leading edge was covered in blood. Obviously had gone through a flock of birds at some stage.
